Who am I

My experience with desktop computing goes back to the early years of PCs.  I began working with desktop computers in the early 80s.  I worked on some terminal based systems in the USAF and in college, yet any computing interest never took hold.  They seemed costly (expensive) and impersonal.

I worked at a government agency entering data into a terminal as the Civil Clerk readying service of process for county deputies.  Here I worked with Sheriff’s Deputies, the courts, the county, and private lawyers researching and preparing their service of process.

After that I attended college and took some pre-law and philosophy classes trying to train my brain. In seeking out a typewriter I found the college computer lab.  I got hooked.  I was so interested I sought out others and began to learn all I could.

After college I moved to Silicon Valley and to the north.  I worked for large businesses doing QA data collection and statistical process control where I wrote programs to collect data from line testers testing the quality of the tin products coming off a huge production line.

After that I worked at an engineering firm as a network administrator on a banyan vines network with PCs and Macs.  From there I moved to work at Siemens doing database programming and analysis of their FDA approved digital and conventional Mevatrons (used in cancer treatment).

Later I moved to work at RIA as a technical support personnel moving up as the lead senior tech where I managed day to day floor activities and set up their first web server where knowledge-based articles were maintained along with other scripts and programs used in the technician’s day to day work.

That brings me to where I am today where I own and operate a small computer repair firm mainly as a way to eliminate stress to improve my health due to stress.

My focus these days is primarily on learning things mostly related to Linux even though I spend most of my business hours on dealing with Windows issues.  I am working on this site, on asterisk phone servers, postfix mail servers setups, and virtual hosting of web servers all locally hosted.
